Our friends at Chesco Moms recently blogged Big News for our hometown marching band!
Recently, Downingtown High School Marching Band announced that they are one of only 16 bands from around the world chosen to participate in the 122nd Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California!
The band, who usually self-funds its activities with student fundraisers and concession stand sales, needs your help to transport 350 students to California, which amounts to approximately $1,600 per student. There are several fundraising events scheduled over the next few months to help raise enough money to assist all band members in getting to Pasadena.
In September, there are hosting a Celebrity Basketball Fundraiser with Former Harlem Globetrotter Meadowlark Lemon and other basketball legends vs. The Tri-State Tornados VIP Team. Want to know who will be swooshing hoops on the VIP team? Lineup includes: Pennsylvania House of Representative Curt Schroder, Downingtown Police Chief Jim McGowan III, Downingtown West Basketball Coach Dave Johnson, Downingtown Mayor Josh Maxwell, Downingtown Sports Legends – Aaron Harris & Tina Nicholson and Damien Blair, Basketball Head Coach, West Chester University, just to name a few.
